Weather cleared up but every thing in a terrible state of mud. Front line very bad. A lot of men at work but a very uphill fight to keep pace. Lieuts F.N.H. Beamish, R.M. Spencer, R.W. Gorton, E.J.H. Mannsell joined on posting.

29th Nov. TRENCHES
Poured with rain all day. Trenches fell in & made impassable , but men kept cheerful. Very little activity, all busy baling.
28th Nov. TRENCHES
Hard frost. Headway being made with parapets and dug outs. Enemy very quiet, very little sniping.. A few shells in our lines. No damage.
27th Nov. TRENCHES-SUCRERIE- MAILLY- MAILLET
Hard frost. Trenches not left in good condition by 10th R.I.R. New trench commenced in front of MONK. Quiet day.
26th Nov. ACHEUX
Hard frost & very cold. Little snow. Colonel Forster went sick & Major Bannerman took over command of Battalion. Battalion marched to trenches at 5 pm. and relieved 10th R. Irish Rifles. Relief complete 8 pm. B, C & D Coy front line, “A” Coy in reserve. A quiet relief.
