Move from West to East side of village in afternoon fine day. Heavy shelling toward THIEPVAL
Bttn moves off 6.30 am. Fine but dull & march across country to GUILLEMONT arriving about 11 am. Stay in shell holes. Ground cut up very badly by shell, village all destroyed also GINCHY, no trace of houses left. Huns shell GINCHY & north of GUILLEMONT Move into the line at 4.10 pm, relieve 56th Div between LESBOUFS and MORVAL. Good relief. Lt. TAYLOR killed. Came back from trenches but fail to find transport until 10.30 pm. Very cold little sleep. Saw Red Rocket (5th)
Wet morning. Bttn ready to move 9.30 am. Stand in rain until about 10.45 pm then march off. Traffic very dense marching very bad keep halting. Arrive in camp about 2 pm very wet, plenty of mud. Mail arrives about 10 pm. Cold night.
Fine morning. Bttn marched from DAOURS 10.30 am. Dinners about 1.0 pm. Marched again 2.0 pm. Arrived MEAULTE 5 pm. Very tired. Billets poor, rain at night.
