Mar 8 MEZEROLLES

Snow storms in morning & very cold. Bttn spend the day in cleaning up, inspections etc. Two more suspected cases of measles. Saw Maj BANNERMAN in afternoon, he looked very well, but couldn’t stay long, car broke down & he had to walk to Div. H.Q. No mail.

Mar 7 BEAUVAL

Fine morning. Bttn marches to MEZEROLLES 13km. March off 9.0 pm, arrive billets about 1.30 pm, very poor place with poor billets. I get a very good one with 2 beds, POSTE & myself. Sick before marching off but feel alright. Yvonne Oguez, Anselm Oguez, Anna Oguez.

Quiet night & I sleep well. Join 19th Corps 3rd Army. No mail.

Mar 6 VILLERS-BOCAGE

Fine morning, cold wind. Bttn marches to BEAUVAL 13 km nice march, fairly good road. March 11.40 am arrive BEAUVAL 3.0 PM. Good billet No 48 Mademoiselle RIFFART Clara. Btn receives orders to march to VILLERS-LE-HOPITAL but this is cancelled on account of measles in A & C Coys. No mail.

Mar 5 CORBIE

Fine morning. Bttn marches to VILLERS- BOCAGE 20 km very hard march, roads bad after snow. Arrive 4.30 pm, rather tired, poor billet in empty house, have a good drink Baujugs at night & retire well oiled, no bonne, have good sleep. Fine night.

Mar 3 CAMP 13

Slight frost, dull morning, Coys at training, we get orders to move tomorrow. Visit SAILLY LAMETTE in afternoon to see final of Lambton Cup 10th F.A. [Field Ambulance] v R.I.F. [Royal Irish Fusiliers]. Good game. Amb win 3-1. Get home 5.30 pm. Fine night. Chaplain sends me 5 eggs. Very good.
