Fine morning, go out about 11.0 am, meet Merry & we then go up to Bennetts place & have dinner, stay there till about 2.30 pm, then off we go, get our goods to the Stn [station[ & leave about 5.0 pm, very decent carriage but hard. Aircraft active at night but we steer clear.
Fine morning but misty, don’t go out until the afternoon. Meet Bennett & we have a run round until 9.0 pm then go down to the Cavalry Mess to a concert which was very good indeed. We stick it until about 12.0 midnight & then go home. Had a very good time.
Fine day & very warm. I go & see Bennett in the morning & Capt Rothwell in the afternoon, try to get some tea but its no go & I have to go to Bennetts place. Go to Tivoli at night with Bennett & SM Smith MMP [Military Police]. Very nice time.
Fine day. I go for a walk round after tea with Hill & meet C Moon who is going to join the 2nd [Battalion] in Italy. We have sundry drinks & see him off at 7.0 pm. Meet Bennett & then adjourn to the Echelon Mess, stick it till 11.0 pm. Air raid warning given, but nothing doing, very good night.
Fine day. Arrive Rouen 9.0 am & report to OC ? Troops. Get sent to 4th Aux. Coy. In T ASC [Army Service Corps] Sgt Maj Mortimer, get fixed up very well. Have a look round the Kit Store & fix things up for the next day. Go out & find Bennett. We go up to Camp, find Hill, have a very good time & get back about 11.0 pm.
Fine morning, leave the billet about 7.30 am by Mess cart for Pernes [?] arrive there about 9.30 am. Train leaves about 11.30 am. Arrive Etaples about 4.0 pm leave again at 6.20, stop ABBEVILLE, LONGPRE & everywhere else, rotten journey & get no sleep 9 of us in one carriage, all fed up & glad to get to Rouen.
Fine day. We expect to go to Rouen but find the train is due to leave at 10.0 am so have to wait until tomorrow. Dull at night.
