Fine morning but cloudy & dull no rain in the night. Still very hot, roads etc. very dusty & rain badly wanted. Not much doing. Heavy gunning at night.

Fine day again & warm. Not much doing. We see 4 of the new pattern light tanks go up at night & wonder what it portends. Very good night. Rather dull & inclined for rain.

Fine day & very hot. Sgt Pitt & Bevan go to Camblain Chatelain, lots of Bonne Santes for me. Plenty of aircraft at night, but I get in a good night. Billet 176.

Fine day again & very hot, fairly quiet all day, lots wild rumours flying about which turn out to be false. I see Major Forbes again at GONHAY.

Fine day & very hot. Fred Kirby visits me in the afternoon & stays until 9.0 pm. I don’t know him at first, smart fellow & has got on well, a Sgt Royal Berks [Royal Berkshire Regiment]. Capt Croft goes to England.

Fine again & very hot. I go to Busnettes in the afternoon, get back about 7.0 pm. Bttn moves into the line, fairly quiet.

Fine day again. A Boshe [Bosch] plane brought down early morning. I have 2 shoots out of my revolver & score each time very well. Fritz still busy back area. No good news from the South. Fairly quiet night. Good sleep. We send our first 2 men on leave.
