Fine cold morning very cold. I have plenty to do, they want footer etc. & I have a busy day. Give 2nd Seaforths a concert at night, very good.

Friday 29 November En Route

Wait at Somain until about 7.0am. See Reading who tells me Bttn [Battalion] are in Valenciennes. Go to Bouchain by train then I start to walk, but jump a lorry & arrive about 11.0 am in Bks [Barracks]. Not a very good billet.

Thursday 28 November En Route

Reveille 3.30am. March to Stn at 4.45am entrain, get 1st Class Carr [carriage]. Leave Calais about 7.30am, rain all day. Arrive Bethune about 2.0pm than back to St Pol-Arras-Douai-Somain arriving at the latter place about 2.0am.

Wednesday 27 November En Route

Arrive Waterloo about 4.50am & go to Victoria by Motor. Leave Vic 7.50 & arrive Dover about 11.0am, straight on boat which sails about 10.30am. Arrive Calais about Noon & march to Rest Camp No 6. Go out in the afternoon to Pictures, visit Garden of Eden etc. at night & pictures again, back to Camp about 9.0pm.

Tuesday 26 November Home

Wet morning, I go out & visit Bess etc. Go to Barber in the afternoon. Prepare for return journey, leave home about 8.0pm. Mama, Dolly & Lena come with me to the stn [station], leave Weymouth 9.50pm, carriage full.

Monday 25 November Home

Dull day but fine. We go for a nice walk in the afternoon. Go to Dance at night in Grove. Have a good time, meet RSM Frith, home about 10.0pm.

Fine day. I bike into Weymouth have a nice time, meet Cpl Melroy RMLI [Royal Marine Light Infantry].Home about 3.0pm. Take Dolly & Lena to pictures at night.
