Quiet morning. Very cold. Showery. Quiet day. Little shelling. Lieut BRISCOE went sick.

Shelling incessant all day. Regt Hd Qrs [Regimental Headquarters] shelled. Heavy rain. Discomfort indescribable. 4 wounded.

HOUPLINES shelled heavily again all day. Trenches shelled in afternoon. 1 killed 4 wounded.
11th November: Trenches – HOUPLINES
Dull day. HOUPLINES bombarded heavily all day. Germans firing volleys in afternoon & attacked “C” Coy [Company] in evening but attack was held off. Heavy rain in afternoon, trenches almost impassable. Lieut RENNIE & 1 man killed 2 wounded.

Fine day.”C” Coy [Company] shelled again. Quiet day and night all round. 1 casualty.
9th November: Trenches – HOUPLINES
Dull day. Little shelling and sniping. Terrific gun fire on our left. Hamilton’s Farm shelled & burnt. “C” Coy [Company] shelled. 1 casualty. Cold day.

Foggy morning. Battle still raging on left round LE GHEER. 11th Brigade engaged. Quiet on our front. Little shelling and sniping. 1 killed 5 wounded.

Fog again. Quiet morning. “A” Coy shelled in afternoon. Big battle on left. 1 casualty.
6th November: Trenches – HOUPLINES
Foggy morning. Snipers active. Some shelling and sniping in afternoon. Colonel Booth went sick and Major Poole took command.
