“A” Coy [Company] shelled most of the day. No casualties from shelling. Sniping incessant. Lieut Bamber and one man wounded. Germans shelled H.Q.Farm & set it alight. Quiet night. Big battle raging in the north.

“A” Coy [Company] shelled during the day. Snipers active. We shelled houses in German lines. 3 casualties.

Little shelling during the day. Snipers active on both sides. Wet night.

Quiet day on the whole. Snipers active. Fierce battle raging in the North. Very wet night, trenches very muddy.

Snipers active. Very little shelling. Fine. Our Artillery shelled formed bodies of Germans.
27th October: Trenches – HOUPLINES
Enemy shelled C & D Coy [Company] trenches & sniped continuously all day. 60 killed 15 wounded. Quiet night.
