Fine morning but very heavy storm later. We start our concert at 6.30 pm & get about half through when the rain comes on & we have to stop, rather hard luck.

Fine day, we finish the Sports Ground and start our sports at 2.0 pm, everything goes off very well & we finish up about 6.0 pm. RQM Bicknell comes up from the 10^th Bttn. Follies at night which are very good. Very pleasant day.

Fine morning. We work on sports ground & run off heats in the afternoon, fairly nice day. Fritz shells at night & hits one of B Coys [Company] billets. 3 killed & 6 wounded, rather rotten luck.

Showery day, fairly quiet. Bttn at training, quiet at night. We work all day on sports ground.

Fine day. 2 Coys [Companies] bathe & have the usual inspections. Follies give a show at night, fairly good. Col Marriott returns from leave.

Fine day. We get all kits etc up ready for Bttn coming out of the line. Qrt Mr [Quartermaster] goes on leave & I act pro tem. Bttn relieved at night by R.B. [Royal Berkshire Regiment]

Fine day. QtrMr [Quartermaster] expects to go on leave but it gets cancelled.

Fine day. I go over with Foulkes to visit the 10^th Bttn. See lots of old faces, Charman, Shoebottom, Lake, Bicknell & several others. Return about 6.30 pm. Very nice afternoon. Dukes [Duke of Wellingtons] do a raid capture 29 Huns. We have 10 casualties 4 K 6 Wd
