Fine day, very warm. I go up to Bttn about 9.0 am & superintend fumigation of clothing & bathing. New scheme to try & clean the men of lice. Works alright but I think it is almost an impossibility. Lively night with aircraft & artillery. Card from Dan.

Fine day. We get orders of Bttn relief tonight coming back to Busnettes. I go up in the afternoon & have a look round. Quiet at night. I write to Col Bowly War Office.

Wet miserable day. We can’t do much & things are fairly quiet. Plackett, Poste & I go out at night, have a very good time, back again at 9.10 pm. Plackett falls downstairs, lucky man, a black eye but no more.

Dull morning. The people here move away at 9.0 am to Les Sables De’Olonne. They have been very good to us & we shall miss them. Fine afternoon.

Lt Stretton & SM Gibson killed. What bad luck for our old hands up here.

Fine day. I start in the morning & hand over to the new QM, everything turns out alright, he goes up at night & reports to the C.O. I get very downhearted but it can’t be helped.

Dull day, fairly busy all morning. The new QM Lt Bateman arrives about 3.0 pm, he belongs to the S. Staffs, seems alright. I get him fixed up alright.
