Fine morning, very cold, work on trenches started. BM 11^th Bgde killed, shell fire. Hostile aeroplane flew over in afternoon very low, none of ours up. Rations better tonight, finish about 11.30 pm, 2 days rations.

Fine morning but very cold, we have a look round & general clear up, some shelling but no damage, rather hard up for water. Rations from Bgde dump also tools. Turn in about 2.0 am very tired & done up.

Fine morning but dull, lot of snow during the night & more snow later. French & British tummies have a snow fight. We move to the trenches at 3.30 pm. Very long march & one we shall not forget. French guide meets us at CURLU. We get to beginning of BOYEAU VARY about 7.20 pm & arrive at H Qrs P.C. MADAME about 11.30 pm. Very cold & quite done up, some shelling but no damage. I feel rather ill but manage alright , turn in about 4.0 pm(?) good dug out but very cold.

Fine morning but dull, we have a busy morning preparing to move, which we do at 2.0 pm to No 18 Camp NE of SUZANNE, which we reach about 5.0 pm. Very cold & miserable, I have a decent bed but cold & not much sleep.

Fine morning, sharp frost, can’t get any water until late. C.O. & Coy Officers visit Trenches.

Bad morning, snow & rain, H Com. Service at 9.30 am, Church Service 10.0 am. Corps Commdr visits camp at about 11.30 am after presenting medals. 2.30 pm I.Fus play Somersets semi-final Lambton Cup good game. Faughs [Irish] win 2-1. Cpl CRUNDWELL comes to have a chat with me for a hour. Fine night.

Fine morning, cold, C.O. goes away at 8.0am to 4^th Div School, lucky bounder. Send advance party away at 1.30 am. Fritz shells BRAY & does a bit of damage. Snow & rain at night.

Wet morning. Gen GOSLING visits camp about 11.0 am. Working Party as usual. Go to pictures at night. Very good, crowded house. Padre returns from ETAPLES.

Fine morning, snow & rain later. Ct Martial on, which lasts all day until about 6.0 pm. I entertain RSM of 19^th F.Amb [Field Ambulance]. Sea [Seaforths] v I .Fus in afternoon. Fus win 3-2 very good game. Snow at night rain later. Wk party 3/250.

Fine morning but cold. We find working party of 3 Off & 250 OR. Remainder work on camp trying to improve the mud which is very bad.
