Wet morning. Ct. Martial of Sgnt. RICHARDSON at REBAULT-MESNIL 10.00 am. Draft of 250 arrive 1.45 pm. I do guard on the Estaminet for Madame, not a good job & I slide out. Have a nice fresh herring for supper, very nice indeed.
Fine morning. Church parade 9.45 am. High wind not much heard. Visit billets with C.O. Rest in afternoon. Vol service at 6.30 pm. Good day. Rain at night.
Fine day. Training parades. Go to ABBEVILLE about 2.30 pm. To get beer etc. for canteen. Get French beer & do lot of shopping. Nice place not so big as AMIENS. Leave 8.0 pm. Starts to rain very strong wind against us. Get drenched & arrive home 10.0 pm very tired & weary. Good sleep.

Very wet moring. Bttn parade ready to march at 8.55 am. Short march of 5 miles via GREBAULT – MESNIL –HAMICOURT. Get very wet. Fine about mid-day. Get a good billet, nice bed & nice people. Had a strafe in the morning with man at HUPPY who presented me with a bill for 11 Frs. Which he didn’t get. Nice sleep. Col FORSTER went on leave.

Fine morning, showers later. Hd Qrs inspection 12.0 noon. Bttn very weary & spend day in cleaning up. No mail again. Receive orders to move tomorrow No. 7 Area.
HUPPY very scattered village, Coys a long distance apart, but fairly good billets.
Fine morning. Orders to move at 10.40 am. Entraining duty. Train very late leaves about 1.40 pm. Crowded 40 in a truck. Arrive Aisnes (?) 4.0 pm. & proceed to HUPPY by march route. Very hard march 18 kilometres. Troops carry blanket & leather jerkin in addition to pack. Arrive 10.0 pm very tired. Good bed & good sleep. No dinner, no tea, a drik of tea on arrival at destination.
Wet morning. Church parade at 11.15 am in Cinema Hall. Nice service. Memorial for the Officers, NCOs & men we lost. Drums play 4.0 pm. Have a busy time at night & get no supper. Too late.
