Fine day. Bttn hold on to ground gained and have no casualties to speak of. Bttn relieved at night by 2 Dub Fus & move back to GUILLEMONT. Sgnt MUTLIS (?) killed on relief , rotten luck been out all the time & shot accidentally. Total casualties 254.

Fine day but dull. Bttn heavily shelled, but move forward to the attack at 2.5 pm., gain about 400 yds of ground but not objective. Casualties fairly heavy. Capts RILEY & HARRISON killed and Lt HANKEY & GLYKA killed. Lt SHUTE wounded. Bttn holds its ground & consolidates.

Fine day. Bttn heavily shelled & sustain good number of casualties. FRANKTON S.Wd & comes back.

Move from West to East side of village in afternoon fine day. Heavy shelling toward THIEPVAL

Bttn moves off 6.30 am. Fine but dull & march across country to GUILLEMONT arriving about 11 am. Stay in shell holes. Ground cut up very badly by shell, village all destroyed also GINCHY, no trace of houses left. Huns shell GINCHY & north of GUILLEMONT Move into the line at 4.10 pm, relieve 56^th Div between LESBOUFS and MORVAL. Good relief. Lt. TAYLOR killed. Came back from trenches but fail to find transport until 10.30 pm. Very cold little sleep. Saw Red Rocket (5^th)
