Church Parade 11 am. Damp & foggy day. Very good news from the French in CHAMPAGNE. A good deal of rifle fire on our front during the night.

25th Sept. BEAUSART
Battalion held in readiness for orders to move. British & French attack began N & S. Progressing well from reports received. Rain hard all day.
24th Sept. ACHEUX
Orders received for Battalion to move to BEAUSART. Battalion moved off by Coys at 2 pm. to Beausart & billeted in Barns. Very dirty billets.
23rd Sept. ACHEUX
Kit inspections &c. Preparations begun in the event of a forward move. Heavy Thunder & rain at 6 pm.
22nd Sept.- TRENCHES
More German gunning than usual into MONK TRENCH. Tremendous cannonade audible from direction of ARRAS. Battalion relieved by 1st KINGS OWN REGT at 8 pm. & marched back to billets at ACHEUX. Fine.
21st Sept.- TRENCHES
Quiet day & night, more German transport than usual heard on SERRE-BEAUMONT HAMEL ROAD. “A” Coy fired 6 bombs from catapult at the salient about 8 pm. Stopping any further sniping. Fine.
20th Sept.- TRENCHES
Quiet night & day. German snipers active. Much Transport heard in vicinity of SERRE. One man [‘killed’ omitted in error?] and 1 wounded by snipers. Fine. Getting colder at night.
19th Sept.– TRENCHES
Quiet night & day, more German snipers than usual, very little shelling on both sides. Fine day. 1 man wounded.
18th Sept.- TRENCHES
Fine. Quiet night & day.
17th Sept.- TRENCHES-SUCRERIE- MAILLY MAILLET
Very quiet day except for a few trench mortars about 10 am. 2nd Lieut Cooper died of wounds.
