27th July- Trenches
Very quiet, a few ‘Little Willies’ but retaliation from 75’s soon ended any trouble from the Booches [sic]. Rain in evening. No casualties.
26th July- TRENCHES- SUCRERIE, MAILLY-MAILLET
Lieut Elkington wounded at 7am. by a Sniper. Quiet day. 3 killed 2 wounded.
25th July- BERTRANCOURT
HQ & Coy Officers visited trenches near SUCRERIE, MAILLY- MAILLET at 4 am. Battalion moved off at 8 pm. & took over trenches from the French, relief completed by 9 pm. Continue reading
24th July- BERTRANCOURT
Inspection in the streets of the village by General Munro, Comdg 3rd Army at 3.30pm. Fine day.
23rd July- FRESCHERVILLERS
Left at 1.30 pm. & marched to BERTRANCOURT (10 miles). Showery. Billeted in barns.
22nd July- HOUTKERQUE
Marched off at 8 am. To GODWAERSVELDE arriving 12 noon. Entrained 1 pm. & train left 2.45 pm. Proceeded via ST. POL and arrived DOULLENS at 10 pm. Disentrained & marched to FRESCHERVILLERS (2 ½ miles) & went into bivouac in field, poured in torrents all night.
21st July
Demonstration by R.E. in making wire entanglements. Packing up ready for move.
20th July
Inspection of Division by F. Marshall [sic] Sir John French, C in C. He congratulated the 10th Brigade on their fine work during 2nd Battle of Ypres. Transport won Football League.
19th July
Route march at 9 am. About 9 miles.
