Coys [Companies] do Platoon Drill. Coys bath at Brewery Vlamertinghe. Fine day.
27th May: VLAMERTINGHE
Resting. Coys [companies] re-organising. Draft of 159 joined from Base.
26th May: WIELTJE FARM
Quiet day. Shelled at intervals along the line. Battalion relieved by 11th Brigade at 9.30 pm. & marched to CHATEAU- VLAMERTINGHE & bivouaced [bivouacked] in wood. Men all very tired after 10 hard days in trenches.
25th May: WIELTJE FARM
A little shelling on the trenches without much damage. Improved & strengthened trenches at night.
24th May: WIELTJE
Heavy Rifle fire broke out from the front at 3 am. This was followed by Gas which reached us at 3.30am. Regiment ordered to ‘Stand to Arms’ & put on Respirators, these proved effective where put on properly. Continue reading

Quiet day. Relieved by 7th Argyle & Suth. Highlanders [Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders] at 9.30 pm. & went into dug-outs at LA BRIQUE.
22nd May: WIELTJE
Quiet day. H.Q. shelled from 6 pm to 7.30 pm. no damage. Heavy thunderstorm 9.30 pm. Work on trenches continued.
21st May: WIELTJE
Fine day. Very little shelling. German Aeroplane brought down by direct hit from our Aerial Gun about 7 pm. Work on trenches continued.
20th May: WIELTJE
Fine & warmer. Quiet day. Trenches shelled at intervals. Snipers active at night. 9 casualties. Continually asking for Artillery retaliation without effect.
