A good deal of shelling on various parts of the line, HQrs [Head Quarters] also shelled, 3 heavies dropped on the road close by. Wet dull day. Trenches repaired at night.

Wet & dull. Shelling at intervals but without much damage. ‘D’ Coy took over fire trench from 7th Argyle & Sutherland Highlanders between FORTUIN- ST. JULIEN ROAD.
17th May: WIELTJE
Wet dull day. Trenches shelled at intervals during the day. “B” Coy shelled by a Trench Mortar without doing much damage. 8 wounded.
16th May: VLAMERTINGE
Received orders to move up to Trenches in relief of 1st R. Irish Fusiliers. Left bivouac at 7.15 pm & relief was complete by 1.30 am. A & B firing line, C & D Coys [companies] in Support. Headquarters at ST. JEAN. Quiet night fine and warm.
15th May: VLAMERTINGE
In bivouac. Quiet fine day. Coys [companies] trained.
14th May: VLAMERTINGE
Coys [companies] reorganised. Battalion rested. ‘B’ Coy 5th BORDER REGT. joined for instruction.

Arrived in Bivouac 3 a.m. commenced to rain at 6 am. & rained hard all day. Continue reading
12th May: WARWICK FARM
Shelled with heavies from 2 till 6 pm. but little damage done. Orders received to be relieved. 9th LANCERS arrived at 9 pm and took over our line. Battalion marched to VLAMERTINGHE WOOD.
11th May: WARWICK FARM
Shelled in morning & again from 6 to 7pm & intermittently during the day. A good many Germans seen moving on FRESENBURG RIDGE at dusk. Orders received for us to be relieved but were afterwards cancelled. Fine.
10th May: WARWICK FARM
Improved & cleaned up trenches, got settled in at 4 am. Heavily shelled during the day especially “C” Coy on left. 4 killed 3 wounded.
