Very quiet day. Enemy active at night with M. Guns. [Machine Guns] 1 man killed. 1 man wounded. A coy [company] of 4th R. Berks Regt [Berkshire Regiment] attached to Battalion for instruction.
7th April: TRENCHES STEENBECQUE
Very quiet day. Trenches in very bad state after the rain. Major J.H.M.Bannerman joined Battalion from England. Snipers & M. Guns active at night. 1 man killed (Pte Walker, carrying rations) 2 men wounded. Showery.

“B” Coy [company] found working party. Divisional Boxing Tournament completed. Relieved 2nd R. DUB FUS [Royal Dublin Fusiliers] in trenches in evening without incident. No casualties.

German howitzer shelled reserve trench in afternoon. Very little sniping. Relieved by 2nd R. DUB FUS [Royal Dublin Fusiliers] in evening.
1st April: TRENCHES STEENBECQUE
Hostile Aeroplane over our lines at 5am & dropped lights to left front of No.7 trench. Germans shelled this trench but all shells fell behind trenches. No 2 trench shelled in afternoon. Machine Guns active. Officers Patrol went out by WULVERGHEM –MESSINES road but saw or heard nothing. 3 wounded.
31st March: TRENCHES STEENBECQUE
D Coy shelled between 4 & 4.30 p.m. 1 killed 3 wounded. About 11pm a fire broke out in LA PLUS DOUVE FARM, by 2 am however this was got under control.
