Fine day. I get orders to go to PERNES to sort out Bttn casualties packs & find it a big job, we get there about 9.0 am & finish about 5.30 pm, but got it all done & casualties sent away to base. I get back about 8.0 pm. Bttn come into Busnettes for 4 days.

Dull day but fine. Busy all day as we are not certain what is going to happen.

Showery morning, very dull, not much doing & fairly quiet.

Fine morning. I go & visit Lt Dowrick & CQMS Blewitt at 23CCS [Casualty Clearing Station], the latter very depressed. Set rations away alright. Dull at night. Guns very noisy. Lt Stretton takes over Transport Offr [Officer]
Sunday 28 April ALLOUAGNE
Fine morning. Busy getting things squared up from the smash the previous night. Attend the funeral of the 4 killed the previous night. Nice ceremony. Quiet at night. 2nd Seaforth pipers play us to the cemetery etc. Buried at LA PUGNOY.
Saturday 27 April ALLOUAGNE
Fine morning. Fairly busy but day passes quietly. Rations leave at night 7.0 pm, but get shelled en route. B Coys rations blown to bits. Sgnt Bird, Pts [Privates] Cooper, Boswell & Ling killed. Lt Dowrick, CQMS Blewitt & LC Eyles wounded. Bad show indeed.

Fine day, fairly quiet.

Dull again & inclined to rain. Not much doing in the line, but plenty of work for us.

Dull day. We get orders to prepare to move, but it doesn’t come off & we stay here, plenty of work.

Fine morning, dull later. We get a pig sent down from the line, and keep it for rations, very nice indeed. Bttn moves into the line again.
