Dull morning, slight rain. Church pde 11.0 am very nice. Miserable all day. Sg [Sergeant] Wheeler returns from leave at night & brings me this diary & a very nice parcel. Quiet day.

Dull morning. Snow about 11.0 am & continued all day with a gale of wind. Bgde [Brigade] parade in the morning, Bttn returns about 1.0 pm. Final of footer match cancelled on account of weather. Whist drive at night, very pleasant evening.

Rain early morning, fine later. I take the team out for a bit of training, ground very heavy. Strong wind in the afternoon & some more rain at night.

Fine day. Coys do training.

Cross country race in the afternoon 12 men per coy [company]

A Coy didn’t finish.

Dull day. Coys do training. We find 150 men & 6 off [officers] for digging as on 25th go by lorry to Feuchy.

Dull miserable day.

Coys have inspections & clear up.

Dull day with rain & wind. Coys [Companies] bathing & find working parties. Bttn [Battalion] as strong as possible, pde [parade] for work 5.30 pm digging, go to FEUCHY by lorry.

Fine day but turns out wet at night. Church pde [parade] 11.0 am in Cav Bks.

Dull day. Bgde  carry out in practice a scheme of an attack at dawn in the neighbourhood of Beaurains. March off 4.35 am. An imaginary relief is carried out & then an attack at 6.15 am,  return to Bks 8.15 am.

Dull windy day. FM Sir Douglas Haig visits 4th Div & we find 1 Coy Guard of Honour who get a good name. Inspection of Bks [barracks] by GOC 4th Division in the afternoon.
