Sept 21 PALMA CAMP
Lovely morning but rather cold. Aircraft again very active. Brig Gen visits camp at 10.0am with Col CARSLAKE. CQMS OLDHAM comes up in the afternoon. Hun plane over at night but he gets a very warm reception.
Sept 20 WATOU-PROVEN ROAD PALMA CAMP
Fine day we soon settle down after arrival. Aircraft very active. Strong wind & clouds later on. Very dark & slight rain at night.
Sept 19 BAILLEULVAL
Fine morning but strong wind. Bttn does 1 hours training & then clears up. March off 6.30pm & move via Bac-de-Sud to Saulty (?) Entrain 8.30pm. Train leaves 10.0pm very good journey, arrive Proven 8.0am. March to PALMA CAMP very poor camp a few tents remainder bivouacs.
Sept 18 BAILLEULVAL
Fine day but cloudy at times. Bttn carries out route march in morning. Bttn team replay final of Brigade Cup & win 3-0 very good game. Concert at night, which was also very good. Maj BANNERMAN visits Bttn dines at HQ mess. Have a nice chat with him. Quiet night.
Sept 17 BAILLEULVAL
Fine day. Bttn carries out training. Two Coys A & B on Field Firing. Bttn team plays Comp Team in final of Bgde Cup. Very poor game & after two lots of extra time it ends in a draw. Quiet night.
Sept 16 BAILLEULVAL
Fine day, open air service 10.0am at which Gen attends, very nice service, after parade Bttn march past. Inspection of billets & kits by C.O.
Sept 15 BAILLEULVAL
Fine day. Coys do training as usual. In the afternoon we go & watch the HB team play 2nd Seaforths the latter win 2-1 very poor game. We spend some time in Sea Mess get home about 8.0pm. Gas test 12.0 noon.
Sept 14 BAILLEULVAL
Fine day. Coys do training as usual. A & B play final of Regt Football Tourney A win 1-0. Very good game. Quiet night.
Sept 13 BAILLEULVAL
Fine day. Coys do training. Very busy day getting ready for concert at night. A play D in Regt Tourney. A win 1-0. Concert at night 6.30 – 8.45pm. Very good indeed. Gen PRITCHARD attends also Col WEBBER R.I.F.[Royal Irish Fusiliers] Quiet night.
