Another wet miserable day. I get up but do nothing until afternoon, when I go down with the boys. Ground very bad. Poor sleep at night. Lt Col FORSTER goes away to 4th Army HQ for Brig General. Tres Bien. Maj LACON assumes command of Bttn.

Wet again & very cold. I feel much better but stay in bed. Temp normal all day. Tres Bien. Poor sleep at night.

Wet morning. I stay in bed. Dr comes to see me & tells me I am to stay in until temp is normal. Quiet day but very miserable.

Dull morning but fine. We go for a walk early morning & have a look at Div sports ground. I get another attack of fever but stick it out. Sports held at night. I get up to camp but Dr sends me back to bed. Runners do very well. Warwicks v rest of Division

Dolly’s Birthday.

Dull miserable morning, we do training, sports again cancelled so we work hard with our men. Miserable all day but very little rain. I go to camp all night.

Fine early morning. Heavy thunderstorm 11.0 am much rain, lasting about 5 hours. Very quiet. Bttn clears up as well as possible. Sports cancelled on account of rain.

Fine day, very hot, Runners do easy work. Bttn relieved in line by HBn. We go to BLUE LINE in afternoon for Bde Trial events & we do very well indeed. Track very bad & hard consequently running not good, but we have much the best show.

Fine day. Runners do training not too hard, short burst, starts etc. I take it very easy but feel much better. Very hot at night not much sleep.

Fine day, very hot. I get up about 9.0 am feeling very shaky, but work it off a bit during the day, quiet day for me. Runners work light. Bgde [brigade] events which should have come off today are cancelled.

Fine morning. I feel pretty seedy & can’t get up. Temp down a bit this morning but up again in afternoon. Rotten day for me. Heavy thunderstorm at night, much rain. Fair nights sleep but not too good. Pitt goes to Rouen.
