Fine day. Not much gunning. Bad news from NIEUPORT. Coys do training. Working party at night B & C Coys.

Fine day, quite nice & warm again. Aircraft active. Fritz shells ARRAS with long range gun. H Bttn do a stunt at night. Hun plane fetched down by A.A. Guns.

Dull cold morning, fine later. Coys do training etc. Working party of 100 men 7.30 pm A & D Coys. Fine night.

Damp cold miserable morning a bit finer after lunch, cold & wet again at night. Quiet day no training done, armourers inspection etc.

Heavy thunderstorm about 3.0 am & rain. Wet until about 10.0 am. Church cancelled. Cold all day, very quiet at night, fairly good sleep. Saw Red Rocket. Tres Bien.

Fine morning. Coys do training. I work all day altering my shelter and we get it finished about 6.0 pm. Fritz sends over 16 heavy shells from 11.30 pm to 12.0 am  – too close to be pleasant not much sleep.

Fine morning, Coys do training in the Roclincourt Valley 9.30 – 12.30. Working party at night 3 Offcrs 6 NCO’s 100 men return about 4.0 am. No casualties. Very heavy gunning at night, not much sleep.

Fine morning. Fritz active with heavy Arty [artillery]. Spend the day cleaning up etc. no training. Adj [adjutant] tells me my leave has gone in, but what result? Noisy night not much sleep.
