Wet morning, very heavy rain, cold again we get prepared for Bttn to be relieved by 1/R I Fus [Royal Irish Fusiliers]. Take over Dingwall Camp in No Mans Land (Laurent Blangy). Bttn relieved at night. Relief complete about 2.0am. 1 man killed 3 wounded. Not much sleep.

Fine morning, quite like summer again. Chaplain comes down for a visit & tells me he goes on leave tomorrow. Quiet day. Fine at night, good sleep.

Fine morning, much warmer. Capt STEVENS returns from leave. Start putting up the shed in QM Stores, make a good job of it. I go a walk into ARRAS & try some oil for my ears.

Very cold morning, no rain. Church service at 2.0 pm, very nice but cold. I don’t feel too grand. Decent night.

Showery morning, very cold. Fairly quiet day, no good for aeroplanes, some heavy gunning, but not extra.

Fine morning, fairly quiet, we hear the operation of last night was a success. CSM LYON goes on leave. Have a visit at night from H. TAYLOR he looks very well.

Heavy shower early morning, fine later. I get my ears syringed at 51st FA [field ambulance] feel much better. Thunderstorm at night & heavy rain. 31st & 5th Div attack about 7.0 pm. Very heavy arty [artillery] action.

Fine morning, fresh wind. Not much doing Bttn get orders to relieve 1st Hampshires in the railway cutting, Brigade support, and move up at 3.30pm. Good relief no casualties. I move back to Transport, also Maj LACON who is going on leave.

Showery morning. Fritz active with a long range gun. Shells places round us but does no damage as far as we know. Few more rounds in the afternoon. Quiet night some rain.
