Boat leaves 8.0 pm & we have a good voyage arriving at HAVRE 3.0 am. Very stuffy in the cabin, but we don’t mind. Disembark at 8.0am & march to rest camp where we form up in Divs & go into shed to rest. 10.30 am we draw rations & then hang about all day. 5.0 pm we draw blankets 1 each & prepare for the night. Meet B.S.M LUPTON R.G.A. & have a nice talk. Turn in about 10.0 pm for a few hours rest.
Get up early, fine sharp morning but misty at times. Go out with Bert for a few minutes & order cap etc. Have dinner at Mother’s pressing before lunch TB Leave at 12.50 by cab & catch train at 1.30 pm. L & chicks come to Weymouth with me. Uncle Harry comes to Weymouth with us to meet Will. Train leaves at 2.05 pm & arrives S’hampton at 5.0 pm. Have a cup of tea, roll & butter just below BAR then go on the boat SS ANTRIM. Meet all my friends aboard & we share a cabin.
Fine morning. Go out for a walk, quite nice. Have Bessie & the children down to tea, quite a nice time, Bert turns up about 8.0 pm, a very pleasant surprise, have supper together & turn in about 11.0 pm. Nice night. Return tomorrow rotten luck.
Fine morning. Feel a bit queer & don’t go out in the morning. Have a nice walk in the afternoon round Prison Verne, very nice indeed & we enjoy it, back for tea, quiet but nice.
Fine morning, go for a stroll in the morning than all go to have our photo take after dinner. Have tea with Mother & Father. Visit Coombes after tea & stay till 10.30 pm. Have a nice chat, but would rather have stayed with L.
Showery morning, go for a walk with the girls & see the soldiers come from church. Go with L to Grove Church at night & hear very good sermon. Organ recital & singing after service.
Nice morning. Have a nice walk in the afternoon, visit Bessie. Go to pictures at night with Father. Very nice quiet time.
Fine morning not so cold. Go for a walk in the morning & meet girls coming from school. Ship on fire in the channel. Nice walk in afternoon. Take L & girls to pictures in the evening.
Fine morning dull. I go for a stroll & meet the girls coming out of school. Toothache all morning. Visit WILLIS Dentist at 2.10 pm & have another tooth drawn, not so good, more like an amateur. Mother & Dad come to tea with us & we have very pleasant evening. Better night. No toothache. Saw Red Rocket. Some rain in night but not much. Good night.
Fine morning cold. I go for a short stroll. In the afternoon Mama, Dolly, Lena & I go to Weymouth. Nice afternoon tea at Letts, get fitted with my new teeth. Arrive back at 6.0 pm. Meet SM PRATT & Pte WOLLASTON R War R. Rotten night troubled with toothache. Nice time & quiet.
