Fairly Quiet day. A few Field Gun Shells sent at our front line in the evening – no damage. Battalion relieved by 2^nd R.DUB.FUS at 7.30 pm & marched back to Bienvillers – very dark night.

Snowing & very cold. Coys. Working on Trenches. We fired several Rifle Grenades into German Trenches & enemy retaliated with same. Enemy snipers active at night. 6 men joined from Base.

Snowed and very cold. Trenches in a very wet state. H.Q. Trench shelled in evening, no damage. Enemy shelled our front line in afternoon. Coys. Working on trenches – SHELL ST. cleaned & new dump started on. Cold frosty night.

Cold fine day. Work carried on of improving trenches. Very little shelling. Snipers inactive. First appearance of a “Trench  Prawn” fired by enemy. Dark night.

Fine morning. Village shelled with Shrapnel in afternoon, 1 shell hitting Q.Mr. Stores. 1 man killed, 10 wounded. Battalion proceeded to Trenches fronting village of MONCHY & relieved R.DUB. fus. Quiet relief. No casualties.

Lucky afternoon. Visited QM Stores during shelling. Stopped panic. Helped to bring in Pte Fuller killed.  £10.0.0. Rem.

Wet day. A few enemy Field Gun Shells into village. Enemy Aircraft very active. Draft of 24 other ranks arrived. 4^th Division is relieving 37^th Divn.

Battalion marched to BIENVILLERS near POMMIER. Germans shelled BIENVILLERS-POMMIER Road with Heavies. 1 man of B Coy. Wounded. Some narrow escapes. Very good Billets.

Fine day. Coys do little training. Officers played R. Irish Fus. Officers at Rugby & won 6 points to 3.

Battalion left MONDICOURT & marched to HUMBERCAMP & billeted. Roads very bad but men march well.

Billet in Hut.

Fine day. Battalion practiced attack same as yesterday. A party of Officers & NCO’s attended a demonstration of German Flammenwerfer. Final of Inter Platoon Football. Competition replayed – No 12 Platoon beat No 5 – 3-0.
