Quiet day on our front, a good deal of shelling towards POTIDJE. Fine day.

Quiet day, very little shelling. Aeroplanes very active. Worked on support line trenches at night. Listening patrols sent out. Lieut I.K.Hamilton killed by a stray bullet. Very hot day. 4 men wounded.

Parades under Coy [Company] Officers. Respirator drill. Orders received to relieve 2^nd Lancashire Fusiliers & 1 Coy [Company] 2^nd Essex Regt. in the Trenches from TURCO FARM to near CROSS ROADS FARMS. Relief completed by 11 pm. Head Qrs [Head Quarters] at IRISH FARM.

Church Service in the wood at 11.30 am. G.O.C. [General Officer Commanding] 2^nd Army inspected Brigade at 4 pm. Fine day.

Quiet day. Shelled at intervals along the line. Battalion relieved by 11^th Brigade at 9.30 pm. & marched to CHATEAU- VLAMERTINGHE & bivouaced [bivouacked] in wood. Men all very tired after 10 hard days in trenches.
