15th October – METEREN
Battalion remained in Billets till 4.30 p.m. when they marched off and went into billets at BAILLEUL, in the Square.
14th October – PLANEBOOM
Battalion remained in Reserve & moved off at 3.30 p.m. and went into billets at METEREN.
13th October – CAESTRE
Battalion moved at 9 a.m. A & C formed Van Guard under Major Poole with Division Cyclist Coy [Company] & Cavalry in front. On reaching FLETRE at 10 a.m. Germans reported to be holding high ground of ridge in front of METEREN. “A” & “B” Coys were deployed “A” on left & B on right & if possible to cross road, “D” Coy under Major Christie was sent up behind “C” Coy in Support. Arrived St.Omer 5 a.m. & detrained & march to French Cavalry Barrack. Moved to Square at 2 p.m. near Hotel de Ville with remainder of Brigade. Continue reading
11th October – VERBERIE
Regiment marched off at 7.15 a.m. and entrained at LONGEUIL ST MARIE (2½ miles). Train left at 12.20 p.m. Route CREUIL-AMIENS-ETAPLES-BOULOGNE-CALAIS-ST OMER.
10th October – RULLY
Battalion marched to VERBERIE (5 miles) & arrived 5 p.m. Went into billets.
9th October – VAUCIENNES
Battalion marched off at 3.50 p.m. for RULLY (14 miles) & arrived 9.45 p.m. Went into billets. Capt. Freeman and Lieut. Irvine joined.
8th October – ROZET ST ALBIN
Battalion marched at 5 p.m. for VAUCIENNES (19 miles). Halted at 7 p.m. for 2 hours & had tea. Arrived VAUCIENNES at 2 p.m. & went under cover of large French Aeroplane Shed, Very long march & cold. Major Lancaster and Lieut. Pilkington joined.
7th October – HARTENNES
Moved into Wood under cover from Aircraft. Rested all day. Battalion marched off 10.30 p.m. to ROZET ST ALBIN (8 miles) & went into billets. Hard frosty night.
