Fine day. BEVAN very ill & has to stay in bed. Dr. says he must go to hospt, but he does not go. We do training again in afternoon & evening. Very tired. Good sleep.

Fine day very warm. Bttn does training. We get a Gym Instructor for Bayonet Fighting. Good days work, get Tug-of-War team at night & do a bit of training. We visit HBs [Household Battalion] & get well greased.

Very wet morning until about 11.0 am. We try to level ground for sports, but can’t do much as it’s too wet. C.O. goes on leave. Tres Bien.

Fine morning but dull. Brigade inspected by Corps Comdr at 10.30 am. Same old lecture but appeared well satisfied. Heavy rain in afternoon & evening.

Fine morning but dull. We hold church parade at 10.0 am. very nice. Inspections & baths, nothing else doing. Quiet night. Adjt goes on leave. I go to concert in H.B [Household Battalion] HdQrs very good. Heavy rain.

Fine morning some rain later. I go round & fix up billets. No billet for me so I bivouac. Det arrives from SAVY about 1.0 pm. Inspection & lecture by Div General at 3.45 pm our Bttn late on account of rain, Col awful wild.

Fine morning Bgde move back by lorries etc to billets Bttn goes to HOUVIN-HOUVIGNEUL I march there at night & get wet through as it comes on to rain. Sleep on floor of Ord [Orderly] Room, no good, and not much sleep.

Fine day good news from the line Brigade take all objectives & about 600 prisoners. Brigade come back into Black line, fine night.

Fine morning again very hot. Major KERR comes over to see me quite a surprise but he looks very well. Just the same as ever. Fine night. Heavy Gunning.

Fine morning again very hot. Capt EVEYARD buried about 11.30 am we attend his funeral & make a fair show. Quiet night. Buy some Bonbon Fins in Aubigny. Tres Bien.
