The Brigade attacked at 4.30a.m. We attacked wood on the left of the line with 7<sup>th<\/sup> Arg. &amp; Suth. Highldrs [Argyll &amp; Sutherland Highlanders] in support. Seaforths [Seaforth Highlanders], R.Irish Fus [Royal Irish Fusiliers] &amp; R. Dub. Fus [Royal Dublin Fusiliers] attacked on our right on ST JULIEN. <!--more-->Owing to the German trenches being insufficiently shelled and Supports unable to come up, the line retired at 7a.m. to trenches near WIELTJE Farm &amp; consolidated our position. Our casualties were very heavy.<\/p>\n<p>Capt.J.J.Walker, Lieut\u2019s Nicolai, Payne, 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Lieut. Jowett, Maclagen, Ricard, Cockburn killed. Captain Black, 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Lieut. Hunt, Lieut. Lucie Smith wounded and missing. Capt.Tomes, Bretherton, Lieut. Tillyer, 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Lieut James &amp; Ramsey wounded.
