This was followed by Gas which reached us at 3.30am. Regiment ordered to \u2018Stand to Arms\u2019 &amp; put on Respirators, these proved effective where put on properly. <!--more-->At 11 a.m. orders received to advance in support of 2<sup>nd<\/sup> R.Dublin Fus. [Royal Dublin Fusiliers] towards Shell Trap Farm, part of this Farm now being held by the Germans. Under very heavy shell fire &amp; Gas Shells the Regiment advanced to 1<sup>st<\/sup> Support Trenches. A &amp; B Coys [companies] were moved out to left to get into a position behind CROSS ROADS FARM ready for advance. During this period a good deal of front trench was occupied by Germans on both sides of the Farm &amp; a further advance impossible owing to Machine Guns. Orders were received to occupy &amp; hold 1st Support line trenches (Wieltje Farm). Casualties- Captain Sir G.H.U. Lacon wounded. 95 other ranks Killed Wounded &amp; Missing.
