A former Weymouth resident was found guilty of fly-tipping offences last week, following a report from a member of the public and subsequent investigation by Dorset Council officers.
On Tuesday 2 August 2022 at Poole Magistrates Court, Richard Dunn (42, of Weymouth) pleaded guilty to illegally dumping stones and gravel on a verge at the side of an unnamed road at Woodsford, Dorchester back in April last year.
A new partnership that brings together key enforcement authorities, representative bodies and conservation groups is leading operations to tackle fly-tipping and waste crime in Dorset with the launch of the SCRAP fly-tipping campaign.
Enforcement Officers from the Dorset Council Waste Enforcement team working alongside the Council’s Legal team, have successfully prosecuted a fly-tipper from Gillingham.
Last week, a Weymouth resident was sentenced to 14 months’ imprisonment after being found guilty of multiple offences, including four environmental crimes.
Enforcement Officers from the Dorset Waste Partnership (DWP) recently worked with Dorset Council’s Legal Services and the police to bring a fly-tipper to justice.
As part of their current ‘Tip-Off’ anti-flytipping campaign, Dorset Council is directly addressing some of the comments it hears from residents in the fight against the illegal dumping of waste.
