People have voted and the results are in for the May 2021 town council by-elections and neighbourhood plan referendums in Dorset. An election also took place for the Police and Crime Commissioner.
Following the successful examination of the Portland Neighbourhood Plan, Dorset Council has agreed to allow the plan, as amended, to progress to referendum. The plan was drawn up by local people and supported by the town council.
Three communities could have a Neighbourhood Plan if residents give them the go ahead.
Residents in Milborne St Andrew and in Broadwindsor now have influence over development in their local areas after Dorset Council adopted their neighbourhood plans. 91% of residents who took part in a referendum on the plan for Milborne St Andrew voted for Dorset Council to use their neighbourhood plan to help decide planning applications.
