With recent rises in some public car parks in busy tourist areas, Dorset Council is urging people to check the cost benefits of its permits.
An increase in the cost of parking in Dorset Council’s car parks will be limited to busy tourist areas. The rates will be seasonal, with some only increasing for the spring/summer period. The changes will come into effect from 28 April 2023.
Following feedback from residents, town and parish councils, businesses and other stakeholders, Dorset Council is planning the introduction of two new parking permits, as well as changes to proposed charges in its car parks.
Dorset Council is working closely with residents, Town and Parish Councils, and community and business representatives as we look to change the way we charge for parking at our car parks across the county from next year.
Dorset Police is working together with Dorset Council and other partner agencies to continue to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in Weymouth town centre.
Following extensive discussion by Councillors, Dorset Council has revised the proposed changes to car parking arrangements.
