Dorset Council has announced ambitious plans to get electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints into towns and villages across the Dorset Council area, as part of its new Charging Ahead programme.

Children from Tops Day Nurseries Wimborne on Leigh Road recently enjoyed a special visit to see the sustainable travel improvement works going on outside their building.
Dorset Council has confirmed funding to assess how pedestrian access could be improved at Julian’s Bridge in Wimborne.
Improvements to enable more sustainable travel have now been completed on the first section of Wimborne Road West in Colehill.
Michael Tomlinson, the Member of Parliament for Mid Dorset and North Poole, paid a visit last week to the sustainable transport improvement works currently being carried out on Leigh Road and Wimborne Road West. The visit was at the invitation of Dorset Council Portfolio Holder for Highways, Travel and Environment, Cllr Ray Bryan.
As part of work to resurface Commercial Road following the removal of the old Weymouth Branch Line tracks, new lining has been installed.
