An 84 year old gentleman contacted us saying that he felt that he was struggling to stand in the shower and would become dizzy when under the water. He requested help with a seat to improve his safety and allow him to continue enjoying showering thoroughly. In order to do this, I had to match his needs and situation to our eligibility criteria. I spent some time going through some questions with him but couldn’t find any way to meet our criteria from the answers I received. However, whilst on the phone to him I requested to access his Dorset Care Record; to which he agreed. Upon looking at the current medications, I could see an item which meant he was eligible for our assistance showering. I am therefore able to look at prescribing some equipment to maintain his independence and safety.
