Our tech provider Orion Health has produced a Dorset Care Record case study highlighting the challenge, solutions and results so far.
The case study, available on line and in print, talks about our phased approach to implementation, based on regular releases of additional data and functionality.
For those technically-minded, DCR is cloud-based, with hosting provided by Redcentric. Patient record matching is done through an interface between the Orion Health platform and NextGate’s market-leading Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI).
Demonstrating our commitment to interoperability, it uses SNOMED, Read, dm+d, HTML, ITK, HL7 and HL7 FIHR standards.
As well as talking about our latest work, the case study highlights future developments. These include:
- Single-sign-on with users’ native systems – work is underway to build single-sign-ons with systems from Fortrus, Graphnet, Severlec, TPP and Careworks
- Medicines Viewer – laying the groundwork for future work on a consolidated Medicines Platform
- Information from community health, mental health and social care from various partner systems
We are also working with neighbours in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight on the development of Wessex Care Records, part of the Local Health and Care Records national programme to join up data across population and place. Once this information sharing environment is in place, it will benefit programmes on population health, precision medicine and more.
