Adult referrals from Dorset Council (DC) have this week been added to the Dorset Care Record, expanding the amount of social care information available.
The move will be particularly beneficial to other health professionals, who will be able to see details of when older people, informal carers or younger adults with learning difficulties, visual impairment or physical impairment have been referred.
It follows the introduction of demographics and single sign on through the Mosaic system into the DCR, which took place earlier this autumn.
Nearly 250 Dorset Council staff are now trained to use the DCR, which last month saw community physical health data from community hospital inpatient stays, therapy services and district nursing enter the DCR.
DC staff will be able to see Dorset HealthCare encounters, problems and issues, referrals and observations.
Cathy Hopkins, who works in the Dorchester local office alongside DC staff as a health and social care coordinator, urged them to join the DCR: “I think it’s really worth exploring and worth spending a bit of time to find out how much is now available. There is so much more information than this time last year, including community physical health data, which I think adult social care staff would find really beneficial for casework.”
- The Dorset Care Record currently contains demographics, encounters, radiology, allergy information and clinical correspondence from our major hospitals (University Hospitals Dorset and Dorset County Hospital) as well as pathology records, referrals and discharge medications from DCH. GP records, community physical health data from Dorset HealthCare and demographic information from our two local authorities, Dorset Council and Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole is also available.
