myDCR – The view from Dorset Carers Hub

Mark Watson, co-founder of Dorset Carers Hub

Mark Watson and his wife Sue founded the Dorset Carers Hub several years ago and they are driven by a single goal – to do their part in making the world a better place for all carers. Here he talks about the hub and how myDCR offers support for all carers

“The Dorset Carers hub is about giving each other support, whether you are a young carer or an old carer, carers can come together to discuss their problems. It supports other carers, offers peer to peer support, advocacy and social events.

“What was interesting to me was my support network and the ability or the functionality to appoint a citizen representative and then specify the information that you want to share or not share as the case may be.

“It gives you the flexibility to add your friend, your family, your carer. Unpaid carers can then gave access to and be empowered to support the person they are caring for.

I think it will make life alot easier when visiting relatives in hospital so I think adding that functionality is going to be a fantastic tool,” he added.
