Milestone reached: 50,000+ records accessed during October

DCR October usage stats

For the first time, more than 50,000 patient records were accessed by health and social care professionals during a month.

Figures released today show that more than  52,000 records were accessed during October, continuing the upward trend that has taken place this year.

The introduction of Single Sign On for all partners has contributed significantly to the rise with more than 37,000 records accessed by click-throughs from respective Electronic Patient Records. Portal log-ins have continued to be between 10,000 and 15,000 each month.

This month has also seen the number of pathology reports accessed through the Dorset Care Record top more than 10,000 for the first time.

Commenting on the figures, DCR Senior Responsible Owner Peter Gill, said it was fantastic to break through the 50,000 a month mark, showing that the system was proving immensely useful to clinicians when they were treating patients across Dorset.

Phil Richardson, Lead Executive NHS Dorset Integrated Care System said on LinkedIn: “It was fantastic to hear the great progress that has been made and to see the growth in use by health and social care professionals.”

Comments on twitter were also positive. Joe McDonald, founder director of the Great North Care Record, who spoke at the launch of the DCR concept back in 2017, was impressed: “Well done all. It seems like 5 minutes since I spoke at your launch meeting not 5 years ago.”

And tech provider Orion Health added: “This is excellent, well done to the team!”

At the beginning of the year, just 19,000 patient records were accessed during January, showing the considerable growth of the record.
