Facts and stats as the year draws to a close

Data for 2021 DCR logins

In what has been a hugely pressured year for health and care staff, we have been really pleased to see the Dorset Care Record grow in leaps and bounds over the past 12 months.

At the end of last year, there were 2,076 employees from across the Dorset Care Record partnership trained to use our shared care record. As the year closes, this figure has risen to 3,461 – a jump of 1,385. It means that nearly 4 people joined the DCR every day this year.

Growth in the use of the record has also been significantly higher. The number of patient records accessed in December was 61,722 compared to 18,797 in December last year. If you look at the 11 months figures for this year so far there have been 380,000 records accessed – over 1,000 a day – a figure almost impossible to believe this time last year.

There were similar rises in log-ins, although many more through click-through Single Sign On than via the traditional portal method. Logs-ins during the 12 month period rose from 11,276 to 54,980.

And there was also a rise in use of radiology and pathology reports. There were 1,596 radiology reports viewed in December  2021 compared to 470 in December 2020. The number of pathology reports accessed were 12,185 in December – far higher than the 2,857 accumulated 12 months earlier.

We are very grateful to our partners for using the DCR in what has been an immensely challenging 12 months.
