The Dorset Care Record team last week hosted Dorset Council’s Chief Executive Matt Prosser, briefing him of developments around our shared care record and pilot patient record.
He was given a demonstration of the DCR in the test environment with Test manager Georgina Hulbert running through its functionality with focus on benefits for a council employee. Our business analyst Sam Belhomme then talked about the myDCR patient pilots and its functionality, showcasing a video showing how it will empower patients to have a better understanding of their health and care.
This was followed by a general discussion on the cross-Dorset working and the nature of our blended team, with a focus on our benefits work and DC’s performance across the DCR Partnership.
The final session, in the hour long briefing, led by programme director Astrid Fairclough and head of service Andy Cowling, included an update on the role of the Wessex Care Records, progress of the interoperability with our Hampshire care record, CHIE, and the current state of play around the One Medications Record.
Writing in his weekly bulletin for Council staff, Mr Prosser said: “I spent some time with the Dorset Care Record team hearing about the work they are doing to bring together key information so health and social care staff can give people the best possible care.
“We all know that we have information in different records, which can be OK, but it’s not efficient. When your health depends on the decisions made based on the information health and social care colleagues can see it is far better for all concerned (especially you!) if those records are accurate, up to date and complete.
“Dorset Care Record, or DCR, is another example of a great partnership between the two Dorset Councils, the new Integrated Care Board (ICB), all Dorset Hospitals and the South Western Ambulance Service Trust. If you want to know more take a look at their web page.”
Dorset Council is one of two local authorities, alongside Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council, involved in the Dorset Care Record Partnership. Between them they have more than 800 staff trained to use the Dorset Care Record.
