Dorset HealthCare (DHC) are one of the partnership organisations of the Dorset Care Record (DCR) along with the Councils, Acute Hospitals and Clinical Commissioning Group. DHC is responsible for all mental health and physical health services in Dorset.
Emily Gadd, DHC Project Support Officer, has organised a range of information stands at DHC’s Community Hospitals throughout May and June. The information stands are an important way to educate, bring people up to speed with DHC’s mental and physical health data coming on stream shortly and encourage staff to use the DCR.
Emily says “The DCR will benefit our staff in many ways; it will help us find patients when they are not in their homes as expected, it will help us to minimised clashes of appointment, it will help us know which teams and keyworkers our patients are under as well as themselves and create a faster and more cohesive integrated working environment. Anything that saves clinical time is a big bonus.”
We’ve already had some fantastic feedback from staff at the sites we have visited:
“As a health and social care coordinator I will find the DCR really useful in my role, as I gather information from different services, the GPs, and hospitals. I was able to learn more about the DCR today at DHC’s Forston Clinic site and I found it extremely useful.” – Christine Noble.

“As Engagement Officer I am keen to talk to groups of staff about the DCR and the many benefits. Emily has excellent contacts within the Community Hospitals and by working together this results in really effective engagement.”
Sarah is happy to come and talk to teams of health and social care staff across Dorset about the DCR. Please contact Sarah.Moore@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk if you’d like a presentation or information stand at your organisation.
