Growing the use of the Dorset Care Record – A Partner’s story

One of Dorset HealthCare’s Project Support Officers, John Hutchence, has for the past 4 months been working on finding out what DHC users think of DCR and how to promote the system. In our latest blog, John highlights some of important feedback received and details what is being done to further promote the system.

DCR has been live for several years and statistics regarding use are regularly sent out to partner organisations. The number of trained users within DHC has risen to over 1000, but the number of active users each month has typically been around 20% of this figure.  In mid-February a questionnaire was sent out to all trained users to find out more about how the Trust uses DCR, with a view to increase the figures. Facts and stats as the year draws to a close

In what has been a hugely pressured year for health and care staff, we have been really pleased to see the Dorset Care Record grow in leaps and bounds over the past 12 months.

At the end of last year, there were 2,076 employees from across the Dorset Care Record partnership trained to use our shared care record. As the year closes, this figure has risen to 3,461 – a jump of 1,385. It means that nearly 4 people joined the DCR every day this year. DCR October usage stats

Milestone reached: 50,000+ records accessed during October

For the first time, more than 50,000 patient records were accessed by health and social care professionals during a month.

Figures released today show that more than  52,000 records were accessed during October, continuing the upward trend that has taken place this year.

The introduction of Single Sign On for all partners has contributed significantly to the rise with more than 37,000 records accessed by click-throughs from respective Electronic Patient Records.
