Since going live in March, we have completed nine pilots in collaboration with partners at University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) and Dorset County Hospital (DCH).
This has involved the Diabetes, Rheumatology and Motor Neurone Disease teams engaging with more than 800 patients, with over two hundred patients registering for their myDCR account. They have used it to keep track of their appointments, read clinic outcome letters and create a representative for themselves in the My Support Network section of the portal.
Two further pilots, with Dorset Healthcare and LiveWell Dorset, are ready to go once the respective teams have the capacity to be involved.
Andy Cowling, DCR head of service, said: “Patient feedback indicates we still have a way to go, but our first pilots with Orion Health’s patient portal (first of type in England) have been a great success, with the cancer pilots now picking up the baton for myDCR are already being well received.
“I think it’s a good opportunity for us to celebrate these very significant achievements and feel rightly proud of ourselves,” he added.
