Using the DCR has a lot of benefits:
- With the DCR, you can view a patient’s records from the Partners source systems all in one place.
- All Dorset residents have a DCR record (unless they’ve opted out), and you can access a DCR record when providing direct care without needing to ask their permission or consent.
- Most of the information in the DCR comes directly from the source systems in real time so it contains richer and the most up-to-date information available.
- The records in the DCR go as far back as the information is available in the source systems.
- The DCR saves you time and effort through reduced need for phone calls/emails to GPs and other Partners. So please do recommend to colleagues the use of the DCR and refer any enquiries you receive which can be answered by the DCR.
- The DCR helps improve patients care and the patients’ experience, with the information sharing at the point of care leaving patients with less need to repeat information.
