Maternity e-docs from Dorset County Hospital have successfully gone live into the Dorset Care Record.
Around 1,500 documents from DCH are going into the system with the acute becoming the first partner in the county to undertake this move.
The e-docs can be viewed in a section in the DCR CDV tree.

An inactive user survey is being circulated to find out why people no longer use the Dorset Care Record. The DCR is being used by nearly 4,000 health and social care professionals. Most are using Single Sign On click throughs from their Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system to get into the DCR at the touch of a button.
From a recent survey in February 2022 with active users, we learnt that approx. 95% of users saved time, and were able to improve the care they give by using our shared care record. Continue reading “Inactive User Survey launched – Why people may not be using the DCR”
Welcome to our latest stakeholder update about progress of the Dorset Care Record and our new patient portal, myDCR. This has gone out to our top 30 stakeholders and provides a snapshot of some our work over the past 6 months:
Growing the Dorset Care Record
More than 76,000 patient records were viewed by health and social care professionals in March, making it the busiest month ever for our shared care record. The figure was nearly 14% per cent higher than in February and meant there were 2,400 records being accessed every day. The number of active users also rose, highlighting the success of our online training around information sharing and security. Nearly 4,000 staff have now completed this training. Catch our feature length myDCR video with information about our patient portal, how you will be registered, a range of video case studies and why myDCR is empowering people to look after their health and well being.
Watch our short animation which focuses on what patients need to do when they are invited by clinicians to join myDCR. This 2 minute video also looks at what patients will in due course be able to see in our patient record, including viewing upcoming appointments, clinic letters, discharge summaries, blood test results, allowing friends and family access to myDCR and viewing the bespoke health library.
In this video, University Hospitals Dorset clinicians Jane Flynn and Annemieke Fox talk about how myDCR will benefit both clinicians treating and patients receiving Rheumatology and Motor Neuron Disease treatment.
Mark Watson and his wife Sue founded the Dorset Carers Hub several years ago. Driven by a single goal – to do their part in making the world a better place for all carers. In this video, he talks about the hub and how myDCR offers support for all carers.
Our patient portal myDCR successfully went live at the weekend, marking a major development of our care record.
Users will notice a new button entitled myDCR across the subject matter section of the Dorset Care Record. We will begin adding patient records through a range of pilots over the next few weeks.
Unless you are involved in the pilots we would ask you not to use the myDCR button for the time being.
If you are interested in being involved in a pilot site please speak to our myDCR project manager Jodie Crowfoot – Jodie.crowfoot@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk
Research suggests that the Dorset Care Record (DCR) has enabled efficiency savings of more than £1.4m in the first nine months of the 2021/2 financial year.
As more feeds came into the DCR and usage grew, time savings rose from £333,109 in the first quarter of the year to £586,675 in quarter three, according to the analysis.
It is projected that a total of just under £2m will be saved during the financial year from time savings and consumables, based upon the end of December DCR unique user figures. Continue reading “Benefits baseline established for the Dorset Care Record”
