Problem List information

Problem Lists added to the Dorset Care Record

As part of our latest release, which took place over the weekend, we have introduced problem lists.

Clinicians will see that a new problem list tab is now available in the Dorset Care Record. It can be used for viewing allergies, alerts and diagnosis (problems). There will also be a link from the allergies and alerts buttons in the patient banner to the problem list tab.

BCP launch demographics into DCR and a helping hand for Yeovil

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council has become the second local authority to deliver demographics into the Dorset Care Record.

Adult services spokeswoman Bernadette Osmond said she was delighted with the move: “Word has quickly spread that the information it holds is of great benefit to the staff, particularly in these difficult times.

“Our project team has worked tirelessly to deliver our demographics into the DCR and we’re delighted we’ve been able to do so.”

BCP are working with Orion Health and service provider Servelec to move to Single Sign On for their Mosaic users as soon as possible.

In the light of the Coronavirus pandemic, we’ve been working with Yeovil Hospital in Somerset to look to provide their Emergency Department and appropriate clinical staff with access to the Dorset Care Record. Around a quarter of their patients come from North Dorset.

We are also seeing DCR usage rise sharply with more than 1,600 health and social care professionals now using the system.

Updated training – Information Sharing and Security Module

We have now modified our “Information Sharing and Security” mandatory module to try and make it less burdensome for health and social care professionals.

Although, it doesn’t technically reduce the content of the module, it does cut the number of slides by around a dozen in the menu. It also provides a different, interactive way to deliver some of the content, which may help those taking part in the training.

The action follows criticism and a certain reluctance to undertake the mandatory training module.

Dorset Care Record training modules can be found on the DCR page of Dorset Learning On Line.

Demographics feed from Dorset Council adults services in the DCR

Dorset Council has this week become the first local authority to send demographic information as an electronic feed into the Dorset Care Record (DCR)

For the first time, information from the adults Mosaic system will feed in to the DCR, marking a major technical and organisational milestone for the health and social care record.

It will mean that local authority staff will be able to put their local case number in to the DCR rather than an NHS number to find their client and have access to personal emergency contacts.

Staff who have completed the mandatory training will also be able to , from Monday (9 March), through Single Sign On, go straight from the Mosaic system in to the DCR at a touch of a tab.

Launching DCR with user and person context will safe professionals time with one click getting to the relevant record.

These additions will ensure that people will have a safe and slick journey through the service and will only have to “tell their story once.”

The Festival of Learning

Dorset Care Record at the Festival of Learning

Week of 15th October

Dorset Care Record are pleased to be part of Dorset County Council’s Adult and Community Services Festival of Learning. The theme of this year’s event is Promoting Independence and Wellbeing. We are visiting Dorchester, Sturminster Newton, Wimborne, Ferndown and Christchurch throughout the week.

This week-long festival is for Adult and Community Services staff to access learning opportunities across Dorset. These bitesize sessions will ensure that staff are kept up to date with work undertaken by colleagues and external partners:

The Dorset Care Record sessions give an overview and an update of new functionality. The benefits of one joined up electronic health and social care record include:

  • An ability to understand involvement across services and organisations
  • Better access to information to inform decision making and assessment work
  • Time saved making phone calls for information
  • Provide a better experience for service users

Attendees are also given information about how to request a Dorset Care Record account and complete the online training.

We are already hearing of the benefits of using the Dorset Care Record:

“The client did not give a diagnosis and only stated what medication they were on. The DCR showed me both the client’s diagnosis and that the client had a history of falls, from the GP records. We concluded that the client was more suitable for the community rehab team service in their local area more than social care occupational therapy as they would be able to advise on falls prevention and assess the client’s mobility.”

Claire Collett DCC Occupational Therapist

“It is a great at informing me of who is involved with an individual, reducing time that I would previously have spent trying to phone around and get hold of people to try and ascertain who is involved.”
